COVID-19 Secure Wet Hire Working Practices

As predominantly a wet hire company, we are remarkably positioned during these times to maintain the highest standards of cleanliness, taking what it means to be COVID-19 Secure as a rental company to the next level in precision and excellence. Emmy and Max and the DOPs we assist are the only ones to work with our equipment, so when you hire from us you can know exactly where our equipment has been prior to each job and that it has been thoroughly sanitised by us before, after, as well as multiple times an hour during each use on every job. We are constantly adapting to the changing climate and monitoring the latest government advice to stop the spread of the virus and to remain Covid-19 Secure at all times when at our premises and when working on set as camera crew alongside our equipment.

Enhanced and Dedicated PPE
We will arrive to set fully stocked with our own Gloves, Face Masks, Shields, Hand Sanitiser and Cleaning products to keep kit regularly sanitised on set throughout the day minimising our risk and the DoP’s and/or Camera Operator’s risk. Kit will be sanitised at a minimum, each hour during use. As the camera team, we are right at the centre of the set on every job, so making sure we are protected and are protecting others on the day is our main priority.
Dedicated COVID-19 Free Crew
Emmy and Max work exclusively together on every job and have done for the last 5 years. We also have Alfie Brown, our dedicated trainee and kit room manager who is available to come with us on every job. This tight knit team keeps our contact bubble tiny, as it is just three of us within it at work.
COVID-19 Secure Militant on Set Camera Department Working System
Emmy and Max have developed between the two of them a militant working system over the last 5 years. When we turn up to every job we have precise processes in which we work which have been developed between the two of us.
Only Emmy and Max will be handling lenses and only Max and Alfie will be handling the monitoring equipment.
Strict COVID-19 Secure protocol will be adhered to at all times within our department, to minimise contact between ourselves and our DOP and to preserve the safest and most secure ways of working. You can count on us when it comes to organisation and maintaining rigorous standards for COVID-19 Secure health and safety protocol.
Rigorously Sanitised Kit Meeting COVID-19 Secure Protocol
We have always made sure our kit is rigorously cleaned before, during and after every job, so these COVID-19 Secure sanitation practices are not new ways of working for us. These practices are already implemented into our workflow throughout every job.
We are expanding our current sanitisation practises to include all of our equipment preparation to be done with gloves, face masks and to have the COVID-19 Secure sanitisation procedures completed at least 24 hours before each equipment collection.
We are making sure everything is cleaned to COVID-19 Secure standards after and before each job to minimise risk and make sure we are providing unbeatable standards when it comes to equipment cleanliness with NO RISKS to any production. More information on dry hire practices are outlined below.
At the end of the day, it is us handling our equipment on a wet-hire, so it is ourselves who are at risk if this strict protocol is not adhered to. We vow to always maintain the highest possible standards whilst at work so as not to put ourselves or our DOPs at risk.
Ample Monitoring to Maintain 4m+ COVID-19 Secure Distance
We have a large selection of kit at our disposal including multiple monitoring and wireless video options to allow proper social distancing on set. We are happy to add additional monitoring to every job if it means that we can make sure to maintain at least a 4 metre social distancing at all times from other crew.
COVID-19 Secure Transportation and Vehicles for Kit and Crew
With every job we provide our Camera Truck Package which includes transport of camera crew to the job and during any unit move.
We will not be taking public transport and we have multiple vehicles allowing us to travel separately away from any other crew if necessary.
COVID-19 Secure Premises for Equipment Prep and Testing
Equipment is always fully prepped at our own premises where we have full control over who is on site.
At this stage it is only the three of us, and any cross hires will be delivered to us 24 hours before and fully sanitised before use from only COVID-19 Secure cross-hire partners.
Our kit is left prepped after most jobs limiting turnaround time, allowing us to spend more time making sure everything is correctly quarantined for a minimum of 24 hours before future use and perfectly disinfected.
COVID-19 Secure Dry Hire and Cross Hire Working Practices
COVID-19 Secure Equipment Preparation and Maintenance
All returned equipment will be held in a quarantined area and methodically checked-in one item at a time.
All equipment extensively disinfected using sanitation wipes and surface cleaners before and after each hire.
Dates of an items last use and sanitation will be recorded.
All work surfaces and floors will be disinfected after every prep and check-in.
Equipment will always be prepared with the use of disposable gloves and face masks on.
Disposable gloves will be changed regularly as per correct COVID-19 Secure PPE standards.
All equipment sanitised to same rigorous standards as our wet hire standards that have been outlined above.
All equipment will be isolated for a minimum of 24 hours after it has been returned to us, before we check back in and thoroughly clean it as per our COVID-19 Secure sanitisation procedures.
COVID-19 Secure/Virus Free Emmyland Crew and Staff
All equipment will only be handled by Emmy, Max and Alfie, who are trained in our rigorous COVID-19 secure safety protocols.
Wherever possible we will work remotely from home to book in all jobs and will only attend the office when it is necessary to prep, de-rig or facilitate delivery or collection of our equipment. We will attempt to only be in the office one or two at a time to minimise unnecessary contact with each other.
None of us will use public transport to get to the office. We will walk, cycle in or use our company vehicles to travel to and from work at all times. Only Emmy, Max and Alfie use our company vehicles.
The three of us are monitoring our health closely each day and each of us are aware of what symptoms we should look out for to remain COVID-19 free. If any of us start to show symptoms, we will immediately get tested and self-isolate for 14 days if we test positive. Emmyland will adopt a no-expense spared policy to make sure the three of us are healthy and are getting regular tests if we have been put at risk or if we develop symptoms.
COVID-19 Secure Delivery and Collection
Masks and Gloves will be worn when delivering equipment and will be changed and disposed of after each delivery.
We will unload the equipment at a safe distance at the location for the client/crew to collect after the driver moves back to a safe 2m distance.
Clients and couriers collecting equipment must wait outside the office as equipment is handed over by placing it on the ground at a safe distance.
We won’t ask for paperwork to be signed on delivery, we will instead ask for our driver to take a photo of the equipment being delivered with the client.
COVID-19 Secure Testing and On-Site Visitation
Only one visitor on the premises at any time.
Face Mask, Hand Sanitiser Provided at every corner of our premises. A hand sanitiser will never be more than a few steps away!
All Emmyland team will be wearing face masks and maintaining standard social distancing guidelines and keeping a 2m distance at all times.
